My name is Sam Suyko (pronounced psycho), and I'm currently a student at the University of Colorado Boulder. I'm originally from Rockford, IL, and my family moved to Highlands Ranch, CO in early 2019. I've always wanted to live west, as my hometown was a very gloom and uninteresting place. Luckily, I had great friendships that made Rockford a little more bearable.
I've always been interested in art since I was very young; from scribbling in notebooks to making short comics to entertain my friends, art was a constant spark of enjoyment for me. I've always considered myself to be a creative person, through hobbies like drawing, video editing, photography, etc. Creating unique digital art through video and still imagery has been my favorite form of creativity, and I really dove into it between 2017 and 2019.
In late 2017, I grew a great appreciation for music concerts, and more specifically the creativity that went into stage design and visual work. After attending a few concerts that year, I decided to have a go at recreating on-screen visuals displayed at the shows that I went to. It very quickly became an addicting hobby, and I eventually created a great handful of concert visual recreations. I shared these creations online with fans of the musical artists whose concert visuals I wa
s recreating, and the reception was much greater than I expected; people really enjoyed the work, and I grew a small base of fans who followed me through my digital art journey.
After creating a multitude of concert visual recreations, I decided that it was time to create more original content that would better please myself, rather than just copy what has already been created.
I've currently made a small handful of original videos using various creative programs, such as After Effects and Cinema 4D. Also, I grew an interest in creating still image artwork using the same software I used to create my videos. My main category of still imagery is album artwork, using both 2D and 3D elements. I've created album artwork and videos for various up and coming musical artists, as well as cover redesigns of my favorite popular artists.
I hope that I can use the skills that I currently have to have a career in a digital art field, whether it be creating visual content for musical artists, or purely creating art to share with the world.
